Looks like Ol' Sherm is riding Sophie into the sunset before this year is over with. Rest now fine sir and play all the horse hockey you want.

Not sure of the cause of death but I'm thinking a cocaine overdose.

Charles Napier

10/05/2011

As the press and everyone else was reporting about Steve Jobs jobbing out to death. One of the worlds most talented actors passed away as well. Such a shame as he was one of my favorties. Eat all the corn on the cob you want fine sir. Character actor Charles Napier, whose granite jaw and toothy grin earned him tough-guy roles in movies like "The Blues Brothers" has died in California at 75.
Longtime friend Dennis Wilson tells the Bakersfield Californian that Napier died Wednesday at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital. The AP says no other details are being released, but according to the Hollywood Reporter, the actor collapsed at his home and was placed on life support at the hospital.
Napier may be best known as Good Ole Boys front man Tucker McElroy in John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd's 1980 musical comedy film "The Blues Brothers."
He also was the scheming intelligence officer facing Sylvester Stallone in the 1985 "Rambo" sequel.
A divorced father of three, Napier was the judge in 1993's "Philadelphia," and he was Lt. Bill Boyle in 1991's "Silence of the Lambs." He also provided voices for many animated characters and appeared opposite Jeremy Piven in "The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard."

Steve Jobs

10/05/2011

Yeah I know it's been a while and some "people" have kicked it but they weren't worth the time to put on here. However this dude I guess is. Steve Jobs, the visionary in the black turtleneck who co-founded Apple in a Silicon Valley garage, built it into the world's leading tech company and led a mobile-computing revolution with wildly popular devices such as the iPhone, died Wednesday. He was 56. Very surprised that nobody had him on their list. Last year he was a favorite.

We are almost at the end and Slabber Debbie is in the lead (AS ALWAYS!) there better be a lot of choking on Halloween candy or tainted cranberry sauce this holiday season! Come on Joyce DeWitt. What's wrong with you!?! Go play in traffic or something!!!!

Bubba Smith

8/3/2011
Former NFL star Bubba Smith, who went from feared defensive end on the field to endearing giant in his successful second career as an actor, died Wednesday. He was 66.Los Angeles County coroner's spokesman Ed Winter said Smith was found dead at his Baldwin Hills home. Winter said he didn't know the circumstances or cause of death.Police spokesman Richard French added the death does not appear to be suspicious. The top overall pick in the 1967 draft after a sensational career at Michigan State, the 6-foot-7 Smith spent five seasons with the Baltimore Colts and two seasons each with Oakland and Houston. He won the 1971 Super Bowl with the Colts."I'm saddened by it. I remember my first training camp in 1972 in Golden, Colo. I spent a lot of time with him there. He was a great guy. He was a giant, the biggest player on the field," Colts owner Jim Irsay said. One of the best pass rushers in the game, Smith often drew two blockers, yet was effective enough to make two Pro Bowls and one All-Pro team. His best work, though, came in college, and Smith was enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988."He was simply a good guy," former Michigan State teammate Robert Viney said in a statement released through the university. "His size made him an intimidating figure, but he was a real gentleman. He was a helluva player."As an actor his most memorable role was playing Moses Hightower, the soft-spoken officer in the "Police Academy" series. He also appeared in such television series as "Good Times," "Charlie's Angels," and "Half Nelson," and was a regular in the ground-breaking Miller Lite commercials featuring retired players.Born Charles Aaron Smith, he played in high school for his father, Willie Ray Smith, in Beaumont, Texas, before heading to Michigan State, where he was an All-American in 1966."`Bubba' Smith was a great Spartan," Michigan State athletic director Mark Hollis said in a statement. "As both a football player and later as an actor, `Bubba' was a great ambassador for the University. It's only fitting that beginning this fall the Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year Award bears his name."At Michigan State he played on some of the school's greatest teams under coach Duffy Daugherty and was one of its best players. Fans in East Lansing, Mich., would chant, "Kill, Bubba, Kill" during games and his No. 95 jersey was retired in 2006."I will shed some tears tonight because I've lost a great friend," Viney said. "He never sought the spotlight. He was a humble man. As I remember him, I recall the chants of "Kill, Bubba, Kill" from the crowd in Spartan Stadium. He will be missed."Smith was part of two of the most famous football games ever played. In 1966, he was at Michigan State when the Spartans and Notre Dame, both undefeated, played to a 10-10 tie. Michigan State finished second behind the top-ranked Fighting Irish that season. In 1965 and '66, Smith helped Michigan State go 19-1-1 and win consecutive Big Ten titles."Bubba was definitely a game changer as a defensive end," former Michigan State teammate Gene Washington said. "You simply didn't see guys with his size and quickness coming off the defensive line. His ability spoke for itself. He was a great teammate and a great leader. Bubba never had to say much because he led by example."In 1969, Smith played for the Colts against the New York Jets in the Super Bowl. Led by Joe Namath, the Jets of the AFL upset the NFL champion Colts 16-7 in Miami.

Johnny Rottens House

TWO WEEKS AGO

Former Sex Pistol John Lydon - aka Johnny Rotten - has revealed his home in London burned down two weeks ago.
Speaking at the Mojo music awards on Thursday, the 55-year-old blamed a faulty spin dryer for the kitchen fire that decimated the property.
"I was in Italy," he said after accepting an outstanding contribution to music award. "My wife rang me up just before we were going on stage.
"[She] said 'Oh John, I don't want to disturb you. The house has burnt down.'
"I hadn't been in the house for two years," the singer told reporters. "First time I tried to get clean the house goes up in flames."
The blaze, he revealed, had destroyed songs he had written for the latest PiL (Public Image Limited) record. "Welcome to Rotten World," he said.
"The point is all of that doesn't matter," continued the singer, who said the important thing was his wife - German publishing heiress Nora Forster - had survived the conflagration.
Learning she was unharmed, he said, "was the best news I've ever had in my whole life."
Lydon was on typically combative form as he collected his accolade, criticising record companies who he said had left him "bankrupt".
"Public Image has been the most difficult thing I've ever had to do in my entire life," he said at the event, held at The Brewery in east Londo

Norman

Last week sometime.

Everyone should sit down for this one. Jennifer Aniston has lost a friend. Her beloved Welsh corgi-terrier mix, Norman, died at age 15.
"He died a few weeks ago," Aniston's rep confirms to PEOPLE. "He was an old dog and it was just his time."
Over the years, Aniston described her pal as a quiet canine who enjoyed resting at her feet.
"He's my baby boy," she told PEOPLE in February. "Norman goes with me on location -- I've got to take Norman."
The actress, who just purchased a $4.95 million apartment in New York, bought the home under the name Norman's Nest Trust.
Earlier this year, the pooch tagged along with Aniston when she was a guest on TV's "Chelsea Lately."
Host Chelsea Handler and the crowd went wild for the pup, whom Aniston affectionately called "Norm" and "Normy," and watched as the actress tried to get him to sit, but to no avail.
"He's 15 years old, he doesn't care anymore," Aniston said.
Back when he was a young pup, Norman got into his share of trouble. He reportedly disappeared for two days in 1998 and eventually turned up at an animal shelter.
But most likely the event left him unfazed: "Even back [as a puppy] he was as cool as a cucumber," Aniston told PEOPLE in 2008. "He's just a person in a dog suit."
Norman is survived by Aniston's other pup, a white German shepherd named Dolly.

Light a candle for Norman.

Lynn Hauldren

04/26/2011

:(

Lynn Hauldren, 89, the advertising copywriter who became the inspiration for the Empire Carpet Man in the 1970s and helped launch the company's signature jingle into national recognition, died Tuesday, according to an Empire spokesperson.
Mr. Hauldren rose to became a decades-long advertising icon, as the person who wrote the catchy jingle that accompanies the company's famous phone number, and often delivered it with style: “Five-eight-eight, two-three-hundred ... Empire.”
“Lynn was truly passionate about the Empire brand,” said Steve Silvers, chief executive officer for Empire.
“He has made an indelible mark on advertising history with his creativity and warmth. Lynn will always have a special place in the hearts of many. Our thoughts are with his family during this time.”
The company’s owner during the time requested that Mr. Hauldren serve as the on-air talent for the spots after unsuccessfully auditioning several other people for the role. This decision launched him into pop culture stardom. Mr. Hauldren went on to serve as the inspiration for today’s Empire Today brand. He helped to launch the signature jingle into advertsing history as one of the nation’s most popular jingles.
In a 1997 interview with the Tribune, Mr. Hauldren commented on how the commercials transformed him into a celebrity.
"People are good-natured," he told the Tribune, "but once in a while they'll grab at you and say, 'Here's that carpet dude!' or 'Hey! Aren't you somebody?' I always hope folks understand I'm not a celebrity. I'm just a TV pitchman, a glorified salesman."
Mr. Hauldren was a decorated World War II veteran who continued to lend his voiceover talent to Empire’s commercials until his passing.
In addition, he was known as a key singer in the barbershop quartet arena, recording several albums with the quartet, Chordiac Arrest, and a vocal ensemble called Chicago Natural Gas.
“Lynn was just a joy all the time,” said Tom Felgen, who along with Hauldren sang the popular jingle. ”He was a neat and special guy who was really wrapped up in music and words. He had a very natural way of writing things. When we were singing together, it was total fun all the time.”

1/2/2011

Well 2011 is only three days old and we have our first celebrity down! Actor Oscar nominee Pete Poslethwaite died after a long fight with cancer. Ol' Pete was nominated for his role in "In the Name of the Father". Postlethwaite's films included Brassed Off, The Usual Suspects, The Shipping News, Inception and Romeo & Juliet. He was 64.

2010 RESULTS

Well, that was a pretty shoddy year of celebs kicking, wasn't it?!

Slabber Mike Z ends up the winner with a whopping total of 2 celebs.

There was a four way tie for second place between Slabbers Jenn, Debbie, Adam and Carrie, all with 1 hit apiece.

Everyone else got zilch.

Scott will become the new SlabMaster in 2o11... should this continue.
